Shop with a Cop
This past December, many of our office participated in the annual Shop With A Cop program. Officers were fortunate enough to go shopping for Christmas presents with children from our community.
On October 16, 2015, the Town of Sylva along with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and the NCSBI had a flood relief collection for those that were affected in the Columbia, South Carolina area. Donations were taken at Walmart by the Sylva Police Department and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office collected items at the Ingles in Sylva and Cashiers.
On October 20, 2015, members of the Town of Sylva, Sylva Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff's Office, and the NCSBI, delivered approximately $6,000.00 dollars worth of items that were collected. These items were delivered by three trailers to two locations in the Columbia, South Carolina area. One trailer load was delivered to a relief center in Columbia and the other two trailers were delivered to the small town of Eastover, South Carolina.
Much appreciation was given to us by the residents along with the Mayor of Eastover, Geraldine Robinson, and County Commissioner, Kelvin Washington. This show of appreciation was heartfelt and gratifying to all of us that made this long trip to help those in need.
Without our citizens, this relief trip would not have been possible! All the departments that were involved would like to send our warmest thanks for all the contributions.
We are now offering a new service to our residents. If you are going to be out of town you can request a Safety Check of your residence. Simply print and fill out the form below and bring it to the Police Department. You can also pick up a copy at the Police Department.
We want to inform our citizens of a statute involving the level of tint on vehicle windows. You can click on the link below to read the statute. We have obtained tint meters which measure the level of tint on a window and will be using them to enforce the state law.
We wanted to give you this information so you may have the tint adjusted on your vehicles if it is not in compliance.
If you ...have any questions about this please type the question here as someone else will probably have the same question and it can be answered for everyone. You can also email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Also, please remember to wear your seatbelt as we will continue to enforce this and other NC motor vehicle laws for your safety.
